Research Group on the History of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia

The research group focuses on detailed research of the history of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (and its daughter Slovak organization) and Communism as an ideology. The work of the group revolves around several major topics: Communism as a social and political movement at the time the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia was establishing itself in the domestic political scene and in the international Communist movement; the role of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia during the period of installation of people´s democracies after 1945; structural relations between the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and the society, state and regime during the 1948–1989 period; the social position of Communism after 1989. The research group cooperates with other domestic and foreign specialists.

Outputs, information on activities of the research group and an open forum discussing issues studied by the group are available to experts and lay public at a dedicated web site, www.dejinyksc.usd.cas.cz.
