Presentation of the database Testimonies of Roma and Sinti
The Institute of Contemporary History of the Czech Academy of Sciences would like to invite you to the presentation of the online database Testimonies of Roma and Sinti (www.romatestimonies.com), a unique project of the Prague Forum for Romani History at the Institute of Contemporary History of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The event will take place on Wednesday, 20 September 2023, from 17:00 in the library of the Institute of Contemporary History (Vlašská 355/9, Prague 1).

What were the reasons for creating the database and what exactly does it offer? What methodological, ethical, and linguistic pitfalls did the team have to solve? What are the future plans for the database and what uses does it have? The new online database presents in a groundbreaking way the abstracts of more than a hundred testimonies of Romani World War II survivors in Czech and English. The project also includes the production of maps and metadata based on the original testimonies.
