Science Fair 2025

The Science Fair takes place on 5-7 June at the Letňany Exhibition Centre and the theme of our stand is the question: Do we live in a borderless world?

During the Cold War, our borders were closely guarded, impenetrable and symbolised the deep political and ideological divisions in the world. The Iron Curtain has disappeared, but do we really live in a world where there are no dividing lines? How has the meaning of geographical and political borders changed? And what divides our society today?

At the stand we will look at borders as a historical phenomenon and at the transformation of their practical and symbolic meaning. We will explore not only the borders drawn on the map, but also physical or invisible barriers. We are interested in how they are created, where they end, their permeability and meaning in different historical periods.

Visitors will be able to see an exhibition with this theme, fill in an exit clause and a historical quiz.

The accompanying programme will feature our colleagues Mikuláš Pešta in a live recording of the Academy of Sciences Podcast on the topic of storms and Vít Smetana in a discussion on the anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
