Exhibition Student Internationalism: Students and the Cold War

We cordially invite you to the exhibition Student Internationalism: Students and the Cold War, which you can visit through June 15 in the exhibition hall of the National Archives (ground floor of the Chodovec building, Archivní 4, Prague 4).

The exhibition explores the forms and themes of student internationalism and international student activism during the Cold War—a period when students had to grapple simultaneously with the massification of higher education and the transformation of everyday academic and non-academic life.

The exhibition is the result of the bilateral Czech-Swiss project “From Student Internationalism to Erasmus: Globalization and Europeanization of Student Life after 1945,” which was carried out from 2023 to 2025 at the Institute of Contemporary History of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the University of Fribourg.

Mikuláš Pešta and Martin Pácha worked on the exhibition on behalf of the Institute of Contemporary History. The main curator of the exhibition is Timothy Schürmann from the University of Fribourg, along with Matthieu Gillabert and Lidia Lesnykh, also from Fribourg.
