The period of the German occupation of the Czech lands and the Second World War in 1939-1945 represents an important caesura not only in the fate of individual scientists, but also in the scientific infrastructure itself. The closure of Czech colleges and universities, the confiscation of their property, the destruction of valuable collections, and the persecution of members of the intelligentsia all represent just one part of Nazi policy. A lesser-known chapter is shown by the approach to Protectorate departmental research or the development and transfer of technology within arms production to the Protectorate. The present thesis attempts to analyze not only the main lines of German approach, but also the competencies and decision-making powers within the Nazi polycratic political system.
