The book draws attention to new sources, new questions and new interpretations of events that shed light on an important crossroads of contemporary history. The interdisciplinary project inspired by the 30th annivesary of the first free elections in Czechoslovakia presents the latest research at the Czech and Slovak academies of science as well as at leading universities. It provides a detailed analysis of the long electoral year 1990 in which people first decided on the new democratic composition of three parliaments of the Czechoslovak federation and, later in the autumn, also on the new representaion in municipal councils and local administration.
