The book offers a comprehensive overview of the main tendencies and the most important changes of travelling and tourism politics on the one hand and general policy on the other in Czechoslovakia during the Cold War. The first part of the book is devoted to several aspects “framing” everyday life in traveling and tourism reality (and also politics), like the contours of ideas and ideology, ethnical and national circumstances, geographical surroundings, international space or transport landscapes. The attention is also given to a roster of the most visible actors and protagonists (political, economic or social ones). The first half of the volume is closed by a historical inventory of key regulations, which affected the whole traveling and tourism sphere. In the second part there are generally described main events and processes and also in nine parts it is outlined a periodization of the Cold War history in Czechoslovakia seen from the perspective of traveling/tourism and their politics.
